Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri has reportedly swooped for Pedro Rodriguez, who doesn’t feature in Jose Mourinho’s plans at Roma.

Calciomercato.com reports the Spanish winger is close to joining the Biancocelesti, as Sarri has insisted that sporting director Igli Tare secures a deal with Pedro.

The forward seems set to reunite with the former Chelsea coach at the Aquile and it would be a historic signing.

Sarri brings Pedro from Roma to Lazio?

In modern football, no players have left either Lazio or Roma to join the other local rivals and Pedro will thus become the first one.

Pedro and Sarri won the Europa League together at Chelsea, in a season where the former Barcelona star scored 12 times for the Blues.

And Calciomercato.com reports the two will reunite at Formello ahead of 2021-22, as the 34-year-old is only formalities away from joining Lazio.

His contract with Roma expires in June 2023, but Mourinho has decided to move on without the World Cup winner and European champion.
