Juventus and France midfielder Adrien Rabiot has tested positive for COVID and will therefore sit out the UEFA Nations League Final against Spain.

The France FA announced the former PSG star won’t be eligible to play after contracting the virus.

“Adrien Rabiot will not be able to participate in the final of the League of Nations, Sunday at 8:45 p.m., against Spain,” the statement read.

“The Juventus Turin midfielder has tested positive for Covid-19.

“As a result and as soon as the results were known, Adrien Rabiot was placed in solitary confinement. He will not rally Milan with his teammates.

“Adrien Rabiot cannot be replaced for regulatory reasons.

“Didier Deschamps can therefore rely on a group of 21 players for the final against Spain.”

Milan’s Theo Hernandez is the only other Serie A player included in the France squad. The Rossoneri star scored the winner against Belgium on Thursday.

Rabiot, 26, played 75 minutes against the Red Devils at Turin’s Allianz Stadium. He joined Juventus on a free transfer from PSG in 2019.

The Frenchman has six goals in 91 appearances with the Bianconeri and won one Serie A title, one Coppa Italia and one Italian Supercup during his first two seasons in Turin. His €7m-a-year contract runs out in June 2023.

Rabiot made his senior France debut in November 2016 and has 21 appearances with Les Blues.
