Simone Inzaghi was thrilled to see Lazio return to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Verona.

Two more goals for Ciro Immobile, as well as one for Adam Marusic, ensured the Biancocelesti responded to a 4-1 home defeat by Napoli in the best possible way.

“On Wednesday we had a sudden setback that we didn’t foresee, even though we were playing Napoli,” Inzaghi told reporters after the win at the Bentegodi.

“But the boys have been excellent. We played a great game with the ball on the floor. We won at a place that isn’t easy.

“Once we got ahead, we did well in our management of the game. We have very good players in possession and we did well to increase and decrease the rhythm of the game when we had to.

“One goal would have allowed Verona back into it at home, but we never risked it.”

27-year-old Immobile is currently in the best form of his career, having scored 11 goals in his last eight matches.

And Inzaghi believes the Italy forward is reaping the rewards for the work he does in training very day.

“There are no more adjectives for him. He trains very well, aside from the goals he scores.

“But I have to say he plays in a team that makes life easier for him. He has scored 11 goals in eight games, second only to Dybala.

“He has such a high ratio because he is so committed. He needs to carry on like this.

“He gives a lot and Ventura will definitely be counting on him.”

Lazio’s win today means they have 13 points from their opening six Serie A games.

However, the Coach admits he understands why his side are less fancied for success than other teams in Italy’s top flight.

“It’s normal that you say first it will be Juventus, Napoli, Roma and the Milan clubs.

“Compared to those teams, we are less well equipped. But with the spirit of this group and the passion shown today we can take some great satisfication.

“Right now, I am happy because the team is improving game by game.”
