The Grifone arguably had some of the better chances at San Siro, but were beaten 1-0 by a Danilo D’Ambrosio header from a Joao Mario corner.

“We put in a fine performance and allowed Inter very little. I have to say, there’s so much talk of VAR, but on the corner from which the goal came about, there was a foul on Isaac Cofie,” Genoa Coach Juric told Mediaset Premium.

“In the second half too, there were many free kicks that only went one way. It’s a pity, because we created the opportunities to take the lead at San Siro and were playing better than Inter towards the end.”

Genoa will be even more short-staffed next week, because Stephane Omeonga and Adel Taarabt were sent off and will be suspended.

“This is a period in which everything is going wrong for us. We need to keep our minds clear and sharp.

“We’ve had this happen before this season, that we waste chances to score and then our individual errors cost us dearly.

“Today I cannot complain, because we practically neutralised Inter despite having numerous injury problems. This is why I say we’ll do great things this season.”
