Milan and Roma directors reportedly had a new round of talks today to discuss Nicolò Zaniolo’s transfer to San Siro in January.

The Italy international wants to leave Roma in the winter transfer window and was not included in their squad list for Sunday’s 2-0 win over Spezia at the Stadio Picco.

Milan are leading the race to secure his signature, especially after Tottenham signed Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal.

According to Calciomercato.com, Roma and Milan directors continued negotiations on Wednesday evening and the two parties are now confident about striking a deal.

The Rossoneri are looking for a loan with an obligation to buy, ‘tied to certain conditions.’

According to the report, the Rossoneri would pay €2m for the player’s loan until the end of the season and could make his move permanent in the summer for €23m, including bonuses.

Milan director Paolo Maldini is a long-time admirer of the Italy international whose contract at the Stadio Olimpico expires in June 2024.
