Sky Sport Italia reports Leeds United have made an opening bid worth €28m to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.

The two clubs are in talks after the American midfielder reached an agreement with the Premier League side.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Leeds have now made an opening bid to sign the 24-year-old, worth €28m.

It is still not enough for the Serie A giants who demand €35m. Talks between the two parties will continue in the next few days, with the Bianconeri keen on reaching an agreement with the Premier League side.

According to reports, McKennie has already spoken to his compatriots  Jesse Marsch, the coach of Leeds United, and the defender Tyler Adams.

Juventus are unlikely to replace McKennie if the ex-Schalke man moves to the UK. The imminent return of Paul Pogba and the rise of Nicolò Fagioli and Fabio Miretti gives Massimiliano Allegri enough options in the middle of the park to end the campaign.

McKennie joined Juventus on an initial loan deal with an option to buy in 2020 and the Bianconeri made his move from Schalke permanent for €18m in March 2021.
