Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli has ruled out a move for Paulo Dybala, but vice president Edoardo De Laurentiis has kept the door open, saying ‘God moves in a mysterious way…’

The Argentinean striker is available as a free agent after his contract with Juventus expired.

Inter had held talks with his agent, but put negotiations on hold following Romelu Lukaku’s return to the club. The Serie A giants must sell at least two strikers before going for La Joya who has returned to Italy from holiday and will train alone in Turin.

Milan, Roma and Napoli are among the clubs interested in the 28-year-old who had agreed to sign a new €10m-a-year deal at Juventus at the end of 2021. Inter’s offer is €7m, including add-ons, a proposal that the other three suitors can’t match.

Napoli director Giuntoli has ruled out Napoli’s move for Dybala, but Aurelio De Laurentiis’ son Edoardo is keeping hopes alive.

“God moves in a mysterious way,” he told Napoli fans who asked him for updates about Dybala in Dimaro, on the second day of Napoli’s preseason.

De Laurentiis confirmed that the Partenopei have offered new contracts to Kalidou Koulibaly and Dries Mertens, saying that the defender could become a club director after the end of his playing career.
