Il Corriere dello Sport wrote that Milan‘s 1-0 win over Empoli on Sunday did not help to understand the Rossoneri identity, while Gazzetta noted that Christian Pulisic’s winner proved the American’s ‘tactical’ importance for Stefano Pioli.

Milan secured a 1-0 victory over Empoli on Sunday, a crucial result for the Diavoli, who overtook Juventus in second place in Serie A. However, Italian newspapers are not entirely convinced by the Rossoneri’s latest victory.

Il Corriere dello Sport journalist Pietro Guadagno wrote on page 12 of Monday’s printed edition of the newspaper that Milan’s win did not help understand their ‘true value’ and that it left ‘several perplexities.’

The journalist admitted that Milan were solid defensively but didn’t produce much in the final third.

La Gazzetta dello Sport offered a different view, saying that Milan’s 18th win in 28 Serie A matches came on a ‘perfect Sunday’ as the Rossoneri opponents in the race for the top four – Juventus, Bologna, Atalanta, Roma and Napoli – dropped points.

USMNT star Pulisic was the MOTM at San Siro, according to all Italian sports papers.

The ex-Chelsea winger reached double figures for goals and La Gazzetta correspondent Fabio Licari wrote that his goal ‘proved how important the American is tactically.’

Pulisic covered different roles during the Empoli game, playing as a winger, box-to-box midfielder and attacking midfielder.

Milan will return to the pitch on Thursday in the second leg of the Europa League Round of 16 against Slavia Praha after a 4-2 win at San Siro last week.
