Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati could return to the starting XI for Saturday’s Serie A game against Siena.

The former Italian international has missed his club’s last three League games after picking up a shoulder injury.

The former Juventus man successfully came through a training session on Wednesday which suggests a return is very close.

Abbiati has been replaced in goal by 2006 Italian World Cup winner Marco Amelia.

The latter admitted responsibility for the 2-2 draw at Bologna over the weekend after allowing Alessandro Diamanti’s strike to get past him.
