Sampdoria legend Gianluca Pagliuca has warned his former club to not make a January bid for Milan’s Pippo Inzaghi.

The veteran striker is expected to leave San Siro after Christmas in search of more playing time towards the end of his career.

Serie B outfit Samp have been paired with a possible bid, a move which the ex-goalkeeper thinks would be a mistake.

“It would be an error,” the ex-Italian international told Radio 103. “Inzaghi is 38 and I don’t think he is the right man for Sampdoria.

“They need a player who is hungry, who has a desire to make a name for himself. It doesn’t matter if they are unknown, they key thing is that they are ambitious.

“Inzaghi has had his career. It has been long and beautiful, but I don’t think he would go to Samp with great determination.

“You also have to consider Inzaghi’s current wage. I don’t think that Samp want to spend that kind of money.”

The former Juventus player has made three Serie A appearances so far this season, totalling only 34 minutes of action.
