Divock Origi has been a disappointment since making the free transfer from Liverpool, so Milan coach Stefano Pioli has a plan to get the Belgian back on track.

The 27-year-old was out of contract and already suffering from a muscular injury when he moved to San Siro over the summer.

It took far longer than expected for him to recover and then he suffered a relapse with an inflamed tendon.

So far, Origi has contributed one goal and one assist in 14 games between Serie A and the Champions League.

He also appeared to be lacking in confidence and struggling to get to grips with Milan’s tactical set-up.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pioli is planning to make the most of the long break for the 2022 World Cup to work intensively with Origi on all aspects of his game.

He will have a personalised fitness and gym routine to get him back into shape, but also sit down for extra tactical lectures with Pioli and his staff.

The Rossoneri especially need Origi in good condition for 2023 if France go far in the World Cup with Olivier Giroud.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to resume training soon after knee surgery in May.
