Goalkeeper Christian Abbiati warns Milan “will have to earn a spot in the final” of the Coppa Italia.

The veteran is likely to play in the second leg of the semi-final with Alessandria tomorrow, with the Rossoneri holding a 1-0 lead from the first game in Turin.

“Reaching the final would mean a lot,” Abbiati told reporters in the pre-match Press conference.

“It would increase our self-belief. I also think it would have a positive spill-over effect in the league. Winning a trophy for this club would be an immense source of satisfaction.

“It won’t be easy though tomorrow and we will have to earn a spot in the final. We need to play like we know how.”

Reaching the final would see the Diavolo paired with either Juventus or Inter, but Abbiati has no preference.

“Juve and Inter are two great teams, but I think it’ll be difficult for the Nerazzurri to come back from three goals down.

“Who would we prefer? It doesn’t matter, let’s concentrate on getting to the final and then we’ll see.”
