Inter and Milan had held talks for Carlos Alcaraz before the Argentinean midfielder joined Southampton exactly a year ago.

Alcaraz’s agent confirmed Inter and Milan’s interest in his client in an interview released with FCInternews in November 2022.

The Argentinean was still playing for Racing Club then, and his price tag was in the region of €14m.

Southampton signed him in January 2023 for €13.6m, and Juventus have now reached an agreement with the English club over an initial loan deal with an option to buy. The transfer package is worth €53m, according to Sky Sport Italia.

Alcaraz’s agent, Sebastian Lopez, said in November 2022 that he had received several offers for his client, including those of Inter and Milan, but in the end, the Argentinean joined Southampton.

Inter director Beppe Marotta said last year that even Italy’s Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti, a Southampton fan, had trolled him for missing out on Alcaraz to the Saints.

Alcaraz has already undergone his medicals with Juventus in London and is waiting to sort out his visa before travelling to Turin.
