Felipe Melo praises Inter’s “positive” start to the season, and would be willing to do Andrea Pirlo’s running.

The Brazilian joined the Nerazzurri from Turkish giants Galatasaray this summer, reuniting with Coach Roberto Mancini, with whom he worked in Istanbul.

“Regardless of what he did to bring me to Milan, Mancini is a great Coach,” Melo told Fox Sports in his native Brazil.

“He works a lot, and I grew up a lot working with him during the period where we found ourselves together at Galatasaray.

“He works a lot, and I grew up a lot working with him during the period where we found ourselves together at Galatasaray.

“We won together, and I always want to improve, learn and grow every day. He’s special in that sense, he can make me grow.

“The good start? I think it’s not just the first game that’s important. We’ve had a good start in the League, but we must have a good conclusion too.

“Of course, for me it was important to start the season positively with the derby [against Milan], because the Inter fans saw that Felipe Melo is a player who wants to win and return Inter to the top.

“I’ll never be the best of them all, but I want to get to the top with this team.

“I also want to thank God, who has given me the chance to do well, it’s not easy to get to a club like Inter and succeed.”

The Nerazzurri have been linked with a January loan move for New York City FC’s Andrea Pirlo, and Melo says he’d be willing to run and tackle for the veteran, as Rino Gattuso did at Milan, and Arturo Vidal at Juventus.

“I’m ready to run for Inter and any player who comes in. I’m at Inter so if we were to get someone who can help us to win, sure, I’d be ready to run and fight.”
