The Blucerchiati finally confirmed the appointment of the former striker yesterday, after almost a week of negotiations, with the Viola demanding a fee to terminate the contract of the Coach they sacked this summer.

“We didn’t pay any clause, because it was something that concerned Fiorentina and Montella,” Romei explained in Montella’s presentation Press conference.

“The negotiations were carried out in the spirit of utmost fairness, there were situations to be resolved with Fiorentina, but we’re happy that it worked out for the best.”

FirenzeViola speculates that Montella himself may have bought-out his contract, with Sampdoria offering him some financial assistance.
