Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta admits Serie A will be more ‘balanced’ this year, as other teams strengthen.

The Bianconeri have won four Scudetti in a row, but both Milan clubs have invested heavily in the transfer market, as have Roma.

“It’s obviously premature to start drawing up the table today,” Marotta told JTV.

“However, we’ve noticed there’s been a lot of activity in the transfer market in Italy this year. In particular the Milan clubs have reinforced, while Roma have consolidated, and Napoli and Lazio are always aggressive.

“So I think it’s a balanced League with these teams.”

A number of players, including Alvaro Morata and Claudio Marchisio, will miss the start of the season with injury, but Marotta insists he is not overly concerned.

“Even last year we started without [Andrea] Pirlo, Morata and [Andrea] Barzagli.”
