The former Roma centre-back made the move to the Stadio San Paolo this summer to form a new pairing with Kalidou Koulibaly.

“Many teams are reinforcing, not just the top ones, but also the smaller clubs like Cagliari or Genoa,” Manolas told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s going to be a very difficult campaign and in my view the Scudetto will be decided on the final day. Watch out for Inter, as they are putting together a great squad with the likes of Stefano Sensi, Romelu Lukaku and Diego Godin.

“There are also Roma and Milan, who are just as strong, but perhaps a step back. Juventus remain the favourites, inevitably after eight consecutive titles, but we’ll see what the situation looks like after the transfer market has shut. As the President says, we can have one more big swoop.”

Ancelotti is practically the only Coach of the big clubs who has remained on his bench from last season, giving Napoli a valuable sense of consistency.

“The Coach is a great person, he really impressed me with his calm demeanour and he is able to get the best out of every player because he behaves in a way I’d never experienced before. It’s the first time I have seen a Coach like this.”
