The Brazilian has now completed his transfer to Atletico Mineiro after terminating his contract with the Nerazzurri.

“We reached an agreement, as I had little space at Inter and am a bit sad, as it wasn't what I wanted when I moved here from Roma,” said the winger.

“I wanted to continue my career in Italian football, but was unable to repeat that form. In the last few months under Rafa Benitez I hoped to have a bit more room, or at least an opportunity, but everyone got their shot except me.

“I was the only one at Inter who was never given a chance. I don't know why it went wrong; I will only say that I did not expect it.

“In any case, I now go along my path and am grateful to Inter, Roma and Italy for these eight wonderful years that I will never forget.

“I thank Fabio Capello, who discovered me, and Luciano Spalletti, from whom I learned so much. I expected more from Jose Mourinho. Leonardo gave me a few chances at Milan, but then I got injured.

“My favourite goal was without doubt the back heel flick in the derby against Lazio.”
