Mike Maignan has a slim chance of breaking a Serie A goalkeeping record set by Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon.

The Rossoneri goalkeeper has now played 564 consecutive minutes of action without conceding a goal, a sign of his ability between the sticks and the strong defence in front of him. Buffon holds the record with 973 minutes, ahead of Sebastiano Rossi, who holds Milan’s record with 929 minutes.

As detailed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have 450 minutes of Serie A action left to go, meaning Maignan does still have a slim chance of breaking that record this season, assuming he keeps a clean sheet in the last five games.

Maignan needs to avoid conceding a goal for another 409 minutes of action, which will prove difficult as the Rossoneri prepare to face Lazio, Fiorentina, Hellas Verona, Atalanta and Sassuolo in their remaining games. Should the Frenchman pull it off, he’ll easily earn the record considering the quality of the opponents.
