Cristiano Ronaldo was initially booed by the Manchester United fans at Old Trafford today but he was quick to respond on the pitch.

The 37-year-old Portuguese star has not had an easy time following his move from Juventus to the Red Devils last summer. Poor results under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer frustrated the five time Ballon d’Or winner and he’s recently been involved in an incident with a teenage Everton fan, where he allegedly slapped the phone out of the fan’s hand.

Ronaldo was loudly booed by the fans outside Old Trafford when he arrived at the stadium this afternoon and that continued once the match started, but this did not distract the former Juventus man.

After only seven minutes, the Portuguese star scored the opening goal of the game, giving Manchester United a 1-0 lead before 10 minutes had even been played. Cheers in celebration of the goal were mixed with boos from the crowd.
