Antonio Conte’s Tottenham have been on fire in recent weeks but a 1-0 loss to Brighton may leave the Italian coach with a bitter taste in his mouth come the end of the season.

The Lillywhites put in a painfully lethargic performance against Graham Potter’s side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this afternoon, failing to look particularly dangerous throughout the match. This came back to haunt them in the dying minutes of the match when Leandro Trossard netted a 90th minute winner.

Conte was left apapletic on the sidelines, unable to comprehend the poor performance put on by his team. The Italian coach will now have to dig deep in the remaining games of the season if he wants to secure Champions League football in North London as rivals Arsenal are hot on their heels.

The Gunners sit three points behind Tottenham currently but have two games in hand, so the pendulum has now swung Mikel Arteta’s way as the Premier League seasons starts to draw to a close.

Tottenham have won seven of their last nine games and Conte recently praised their strong mentality, but that was clearly lacking against Brighton this afternoon, leaving the former Inter and Juventus coach to quickly try to solve the issues before it’s too late.
