Leeds United are in negotiations to sign Udinese and Argentina midfielder Rodrigo De Paul, claims the Sunday Telegraph.

Previously linked with Juventus, Inter, Napoli, Roma and Milan, Serie A sides never really pushed through talks for the 26-year-old.

Now it’s reported that he could be heading to England and the Premier League, to join newly-promoted Leeds United and their coach Marcelo Bielsa.

Now it’s reported that he could be heading to England and the Premier League, to join newly-promoted Leeds United and their coach Marcelo Bielsa.

De Paul only recently extended his Udinese contract to June 2024, but the fact they continue to hover just above the relegation zone has prompted a rethink about his future.

Any transfer fee will have to be over €30m, as despite playing for one of Serie A’s smaller clubs, he still earned 17 senior caps for Argentina.

His versatility is particularly impressive, able to play in any midfield role, combining quality of passing with a strong work ethic.

De Paul contributed seven goals and six assists in 34 Serie A games last season, while he netted nine the year before that.
