Lazio will probably be without Mattia Zaccagni for the rest of 2022 after picking up a calf strain, missing the games with Monza and Juventus.

The attacking winger was fresh from the Derby della Capitale victory over Roma, but tests today at the Paideia clinic in Rome showed a strain to the right calf muscle.

The player will be evaluated on a daily basis, but is certainly out of tomorrow’s Serie A match against Monza.

Zaccagni also has to be a major doubt for the final league game of 2022 against Juventus, which is scheduled for Sunday evening.

That is a particular concern, as Pedro is also not 100 per cent fit with a calf issue, while Ciro Immobile is still struggling to make his comeback from a thigh strain.

Zaccagni has been on fine form this season, contributing five goals and three assists in 13 Serie A appearances.

Lazio have the opportunity to catch up to Milan in second place with a victory over Monza on Thursday evening, a boost for Maurizio Sarri’s men after they crashed out of the Europa League.
