Juventus confirm they will appeal against a 15-point deduction and insist the document provided by the FIGC Court of Appeals today is’ vitiated by obvious illogicalities, motivational deficiencies and unfounded in terms of law.’

“Juventus Football Club and its legal team have carefully read and will analyse in depth the justifications, recently published, pertaining to the decision of the United Sections of the Federal Court of Appeal,” the Bianconeri said in a statement.

“It is a document, predictable in terms of content, in light of the heavy decision, but vitiated by obvious illogicalities, motivational deficiencies and unfounded in terms of law, which the Company and individuals will oppose with an appeal to the Guarantee Board at CONI within the set deadlines.

“The validity of Juventus’ reasons will be asserted firmly, albeit with the respect due to the institutions that issued it.”

The FIGC Court of Appeals has released a 36-page document today to explain why the Bianconeri were deducted 15 points for the current campaign.

The Juventus case was re-opened after the Bianconeri had been cleared of allegations along with other Italian clubs last year.

New evidence collected by the Turin Prosecutor in a criminal investigation for alleged false accounting was used by the FIGC Prosecutor Giuseppe Chinè, leading to a 15-point penalty for the Bianconeri.

The document provided by the FIGC highlights how Juventus and some of their current and former director made systematic use of artificially inflated transfer values to balance the books. The FIGC Court also mentions swap deals completed with Barcelona and Manchester City by former director Fabio Paratici.

Within 30 days, Juventus will lodge an appeal with the CONI Collegio Di Garanzia which can either confirm the FIGC ruling or accept Juventus’ complaints cancelling their 15-point deduction.
