The FIGC Court of Appeals has released the reasons why Juventus were docked 15 points and the Bianconeri are set to appeal the decision: here’s what happens now.

The Bianconeri have been docked 15 points in a second capital-gain case which was reopened after the Bianconeri and other Italian clubs had been cleared of allegations less than a year ago.

However, a criminal investigation carried out by the Turin Prosecutor for alleged financial irregularities brought further evidence scrutinised by the Sporting justice, leading to a 15-point penalty which only hit Juventus and not the other clubs involved.

Juventus lawyers had been preparing their appeal even before today’s explanation and will submit it within the next 30 days, reports Gazzetta.

Juventus’ appeal will be lodged with the Collegio Di Garanzia Del CONI.

According to the report, in this third stage, judges will consider potential violations of the defendants’ rights, ‘formal defects’ or ‘deviant interpretations of the Code of Sports Justice.’

The Collegio Di Garanzia Del CONI does not have the power to change the penalty partially, so if Juventus’ appeal is accepted, the 15-point deduction will be entirely withdrawn.

If it’s rejected, Juventus could make a second appeal to the TAR del Lazio, but that would be outside the frame of Sporting Justice, so the club would need an unlikely authorisation from the FIGC to bring the process forward.

There could be more clouds on the horizon for the Old Lady as the FIGC Prosecutor Giuseppe Chiné is also investigating the so-called ‘salary manoeuvre’ carried out by Juventus after the peak of the COVID pandemic, which could lead to a second trial and a new potential penalty for Max Allegri’s men.
