Juventus star Angel Di Maria confirms he wants to return to Rosario Central in Argentina ‘even just for one year.’

El Fideo joined Juventus on a free transfer last summer, signing a one-year deal at the Allianz Stadium.

The Serie A giants pushed for a two-year deal, but Di Maria only wanted to sign for one season to have the chance to return to South America in 2023.

He has confirmed his plans in an interview with CONMEBOL.

“The truth is that I’ve wanted to return to Rosario Central for a long time,” he said.

“It’s true that things at the club are not easy now, but I still have my ideas. I’d like to enjoy Argentinean football in the team where I was born, even for just one year.”

The interview was released in Florida during the international break last month and was also conducted by former Napoli star Ezequiel Lavezzi.

However, the timing of the release was not ideal as Juventus have just been eliminated in the Champions League group stage following a 4-3 loss against Benfica on Tuesday.

Di Maria has suffered three different muscle injuries in his first three months in Turin, collecting barely 300 minutes across seven appearances in all competitions.

His latest Instagram post, where he was seen wearing an Argentinean shirt, infuriated Juventus fans who accused him of not being focused enough on his club.
