Massimiliano Allegri consoled Leonardo Bonucci on the bench after replacing the Italy international in yesterday’s 4-3 loss against Benfica.

It was a terrible night for Juventus who went 4-1 down after just 50 minutes at the Estadio Da Luz, managing to score two in the final 20.

Bonucci was subbed off in the second half after an unconvincing performance and, as reported by Sportmediaset, he was consoled by Allegri once he sat on the bench.

The Italy international was replaced by Alex Sandro who hadn’t started due to a minor muscle issue.

Bonucci was on the pitch the last time Juventus were eliminated in the Champions League group stage.

It was during the 2013-14 campaign with Antonio Conte in charge of the Bianconeri.

Bonucci’s Juventus contract runs out in June 2024, but the latest reports in Italy suggest the Serie A giants will offer him a contract extension.

  1. He is done at top level. Once he was a great defender, but time takes its toll on all players.
Same goes for Alex Sandro and Cuadrado. TIme for rebuilding a new core is ongoing for the club, but will take time.

  2. Bonnucci has seen better days, it is time for him to”appendere le scarpe al chiodo!” and do what Chiellini did, you cannot go on forever, they should have retired on high after the Euro win last year, Mancini will have to replace him as well!

  3. Part of rebuilding is to get younger – it’s time for Bonucci – Cuadrado – Alex Sandro to go. Unlike some teams who sell their stars to sign 33 year old free agents you rebuild with new material – not with someone else’s leftover scraps.
