Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri was happy with his side’s performance in their 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid.

The Bianconeri were beaten in Pasadena on Saturday in the final match of their US tour thanks to goals from Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio.

However, Allegri pointed to the number of absentees his side had to contend with and the fact they were up against the reigning European champions.

Speaking after the match at the Rose Bowl, he said: “A good match that concluded a good 10-days’ work in the United States.

“We were up against the strongest team in Europe, and as long as it was possible to play, we did, trying to manage possession and not give the ball away. I am satisfied with the effort from the lads, we can still grow a lot though, and there are players who have still to return.

“Tonight there were chances for both sides and we should have managed ours with a little more patience. Now we have a couple of days’ rest and then back to work because the season is approaching.”

Juve ended their tour with a defeat, having previous run out 2-0 winners over Mexican side Chivas and drawn 2-2 against Barcelona.

Next up for Allegri’s side is a clash with another LaLiga side in Atlético Madrid with the two sides facing off in Tel Aviv, Israel on Aug. 7.

Juve’s Serie A season kicks off eight days later with the visit of Sassuolo before travelling to Sampdoria for their first away match on Aug. 22.

  1. Juve needs to improve its left amd right backs, in the middle attacking midfielders are need, and a good replacemnt for Chiesa like Mousa Diabby.

  2. I think Juve are more focused whether or not Skriniar will be sold or not Lol. This season will prove Vlahovic continuation of being a flop but the only light at the end of the tunnel is Di maria which is sad to depend on a player who is at the end of his career. One injury to him then the season for Juve is over far more important than Pogba or anyone else in attack. This season just like the last one will be a long one but unlike the last one there’ll be no turning point just a straight downfall with that midtable midfield.

  3. IS Allegri joking? “Both teams had chances?” Juve had no shots on goal until the 85th minute! They were played off the park. And he’s happy with that? Only good news is that the team played with more verve when he put all the young players on at the end. But that doesn’t mean much to Allegri. Alex Sandro on the left is a real liability.

  4. Hey, if you need to park the bus to get a 0-0 draw, then you fo that.

There is nothing wrong with playing “ugly” to earn a result.

However, Juve need to mprove their midfield and move to a three man defense.

Although, against teams like RM just go with a 4-5-1, make the game ugly.

  5. @Lord Allegri…

While I mostly agree with your comments, we share the same concerns with regard to the need for improving fitness levels and focuding more on technique, especially goal finishing quality-also a problem with the Nazionale-playing a 4-5-1 or a 3-5-2 with the intent to neutralize or stifle a faster is a justified approach.

    Results matter.

Roma did precisely what they needed to do to bring home the Euro Conference chsmpionship. Yes, a third tier Euro competition but a championship title nonetheless.

Seria A teams need to play ruthlessly and intelligently on defense. That lack of attention to detail is also what hurt the Nazionale during WC qualifying against Bulgaria in Italy. IF we win THAT game, we would have qualified fir the WC directly.

Lord Allegri…please respond. I would like to know your thoughts.

  6. Happy with the performance???? Did Juve perform? It was all RM!!! Allegri belongs to a mental asylum…next season 4th place again!!!
