Italian sports papers confirm Weston McKennie’s move to Leeds is ‘getting closer’, with the American midfielder open to moving to Elland Road.

Sky Sport Italia reported on Wednesday night that the Bianconeri have received a €28m bid for the former Schalke midfielder, but want at least €35m to sell him in January.

Gazzetta and Tuttosport confirm the offer, but talks between the two clubs are still ongoing.

‘Leeds are getting closer,’ wrote Tuttosport who insists Arsenal are also monitoring the 24-year-old.

The Turin-based paper confirms McKennie has already spoken with Leeds coach Jesse Marsch.

Gazzetta wrote that the deal is ‘heating up’ confirming that the Bianconeri are open to selling McKennie.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, McKennie is happy to join Leeds but will give a final answer to the Premier League club in the coming days, waiting for offers from a bigger Premier League club.

If the American midfielder leaves, Juventus won’t sign a new central midfielder but will try to get Joakim Maehle from Atalanta.
