Italian intermediary Fabrizio Ferrari who was in charge of talks with Milan for Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin reveals the Rossoneri ‘had other priorities’ in the winter transfer window.

Ferrari explored the possibility of a January transfer for the French winger who is not getting regular playing time with the Magpies.

“We held talks [with Milan], but there was never a real chance to sell the player,” Ferrari told DAZN.

“I think the club like the player, but we didn’t go forward because Milan had other priorities.”

The France winger was linked with a move to the Stadio Meazza in January but according to reports in Italy, his €30m price tag was unaffordable for the Rossoneri.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara also made Roma‘s Nicolo Zaniolo their priority in attack but failed to reach an agreement with the Giallorossi.

Saint-Maximin has made 17 competitive appearances with Newcastle this season, scoring one goal and delivering three assists. His contract expires in June 2026.

Milan’s only signing in the January transfer window was Colombian goalkeeper Devis Vásquez from Guaranì for barely €500,000. The 24-year-old has signed a contract until June 2026.

  1. I can see ASM replacing Leao in the summer. Same kind of player. Doubt we could afford him if he wants to stay on England level wages though.
