Milan and Inter are gearing up to fight for the first trophy of the season, the Supercoppa Italiana, a match with both sporting and economic incentives.

Scheduled for Wednesday January 18 at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, this Supercoppa Italiana final will be the last to be played in Saudi Arabia following the agreement with Lega Serie A made back in November 2018. The deal gave both the league and the clubs economic benefits, something Milan and Inter will be happy to receive this week.

As highlighted by Calcio e Finanza, each Supercoppa Italiana final is worth around €7.5m, with 10% of that going to Lega Serie A. The other 90% is shared between the two participating clubs, with the winning team receiving only €500,000 more than the losers.

This €7.5m fee would’ve been less had one of Inter, Milan, Juventus or Roma been absent, showing the desire to have top clubs competing for the trophy.
