Pisa Coach Gennaro Gattuso has been given a touchline ban for the rest of the season.

The former Milan midfielder was so incensed with the referee in the weekend draw with Pontedera that he removed himself from the bench, and watched the rest of the match from the dressing room.

The Lega Pro found that Gattuso had also “repeatedly directed offensive language” to the referee at the end of the match, and gave him a three-match ban, with only three games to play.

With Pisa now nine points behind Spal in Girone B of the Lega Pro, automatic promotion appears to be out of reach.

However, if Gattuso’s men hold onto second place in the table they will enter a play-off to win promotion to Serie B.

The fiery Coach attracted attention earlier this season after being caught on camera slapping his assistant in the face.
