Not only is this Florenzi’s first start at San Siro in the Milan jersey, it is also against his age-old rivals Lazio, having spent most of his career at Roma.

“It’s certainly a positive feeling, but this remains a football match. We hope to put in a good performance and bring home points,” Florenzi told DAZN.

“We know the strengths and weaknesses of this Lazio side, we’ll see what happens on the pitch and will try to make the most of that knowledge.”

Having been a right-back for several years now, are the Rossoneri being too conservative in using Florenzi in a more advanced role in the supporting trio behind the centre-forward?

“It depends on many factors and how you see football. On the one hand, some might see this as a conservative choice, while others might consider it one of freedom.”
