Juventus had taken the lead at the Sanchez-Pizjuan with Dusan Vlahovic, but were undone by ex-Serie A players Suso and in extra time Erik Lamela as Sevilla will face Roma in the Europa League Final.
Federico Gatti’s last-gasp equaliser in the first leg meant it was winner takes all at the Sanchez-Pizjuan. Paul Pogba joined Mattia De Sciglio and Leonardo Bonucci on the treatment table, but Gleison Bremer returned with Samuel Iling-Junior and Moise Kean surprise starters. The hosts and repeat Europa League winners had Lucas Ocampos back from injury, still missing Tanguy Nianziou, Joan Jordan, Marcao and cup-tied Pape Gueye.
It was all Sevilla early on with a series of corners, but the first real chances were for Juve, as Nicolò Fagioli’s strike was deflected over and on that corner Gatti’s free header was beaten off the line by Yassine Bounou.
However, Wojciech Szczesny had to claw an Ocampos diving header at least 50 per cent over the line at the near bottom corner, with goal-line technology confirming it was kept out.
Angel Di Maria wasted a golden opportunity when sent through by Adrien Rabiot, choosing the cheeky dink from 12 yards that went over the bar rather than passing to Moise Kean.
Szczesny flew to palm a Marcos Acuna scorcher over the bar, while Kean’s angled drive clipped the inside of the near post to roll back out after shaking off Bade.
It was end to end, Ivan Rakitic firing over from a tricky angle, then Fagioli was stretchered off after being accidentally wiped out by Nemanja Gudelj, replaced by Leandro Paredes. Initial reports suggest Fagioli has a fractured clavicle.
Adrien Rabiot had the ball in the net just before half-time, but Manuel Locatelli had strayed just offside before the assist.
There was controversy on the stroke of half-time, as Juan Cuadrado went lunging into a mistimed tackle on Oliver Torres and it looked a clear penalty, but remarkably the referee and VAR both waved play on to the understandable fury of the home team.
Rabiot went close again, this time breaking away on a Kean chested assist in midfield and flashing the angled drive inches past the far post, and Bremer went even closer with a header on the Paredes cross that grazed the upright.
Juventus broke the deadlock with Dusan Vlahovic just moments after he came off the bench, gathering from the Rabiot knockdown and making the most of a lucky ricochet off Bade to break into the box, keeping his cool for a delicate dink over the goalkeeper.
However, Sevilla also scored with a substitute who had only just joined the match. Former Milan winger Suso was injured for the first leg, but here came on and unleashed a scorcher with his left boot into the top corner from outside the D, after Federico Chiesa had given it away cheaply in midfield.
Szczesny palmed away a Suso fee kick from a long way out, then used his leg to deny Bryan Gil from eight yards after one of numerous Sevilla corners.
It wasn’t over, as in stoppages Szczesny flew to fingertip En-Nesyri’s header over the bar.
The tie went to extra time and Chiesa wasted a golden opportunity before Sevilla struck moments later with another former Serie A player, ex-Roma man Erik Lamela found a free header on Bryan Gil’s cross, as he was lost by marker Cuadrado.
Chiesa ballooned over the bar from 14 yards after a lucky ricochet, but Sevilla gave Juve a lifeline late on when Acuna received his second yellow card for time-wasting. It also means he will be suspended for the Final against Roma.
The Bianconeri pushed to the last moment, Paredes blasting over from a corner.
