Paulo Dybala got off to a good start to life with Roma in their 1-0 pre-season friendly win over Tottenham today, providing the assist for the decisive goal.

Jose Mourinho’s side put in a good shift against Spurs this evening, looking focused and confident as they held off Antonio Conte’s side. Just on the half hour mark, Paulo Dybala’s perfectly aimed cross was met by Roger Ibanez, who guided the ball home to make things 1-0.

The Giallorossi held on, with the Israeli heat clearly slowing the pace of the game. Dybala was proactive during his 60 minutes on the pitch and can look back at his first game under Mourinho with a smile, showing some good signs working alongside Nicolo Zaniolo.

Roma have one more friendly before their Serie A season kicks off, facing Shakhtar Donetsk on August 7. Their first game of the new campaign is against Salernitana on August 14.

Starting line-ups:

Tottenham (3-5-2): Lloris; Romero, Dier, Sanchez; Doherty, Hojberg, Bissouma, Perisic; Kulusevski, Kane, Son.

Roma (3-4-2-1): Rui Patricio; Mancini, Smalling, Ibanez; Karsdorp, Cristante, Pellegrini, Zalewski; Dybala, Zaniolo; Abraham.
