The incident involving Lautaro Martinez and Theo Hernandez after the Milan derby continues to cause controversy, but a DAZN pitch reporter claims the Argentinean’s spit is ‘not visible.’

Lautaro is being accused of spitting on his opponent in the final seconds of the Milan derby (watch the video here). Theo had been sent off and was on his way to the tunnel, but quickly came out to confront the Inter striker who could face a suspension from the sporting judge today.

However, it is still unclear whether or not Lautaro really spit on Theo while the Milan defender was going back inside the Milan dressing room.

DAZN pitch reporter Davide Bernardi, who was at the Stadio Meazza on Saturday, claims he and other DAZN journalists watched the replay many times, also in slow motion and zooming on Lautaro and the split ‘is not there, or at least is not visible.’

Theo Hernandez will get a one or two-match ban after receiving a straight red card in the final seconds of the derby, and it remains to be seen if Lautaro will also be punished today.

10 thought on “Did Lautaro spit on Theo? Pitch reporter explains what happened”
  1. Important question: what is the source of this story of Martinez spitting on Theo? This story is doing the rounds, but where was the question first posited?

Question the source rather than speculate, if truth is what is really desired here.

Separately: since Theo has been one yellow card away from suspension prior to the red card, will he not get a longer ban than just a straight red?

  2. Spitting on people in times of COVID? 10 match ban wouldn’t be excessive.
    That’s basically bio-terrorism.

  3. Are you people serious? Spitting is the worst kind of humiliation not to mention it’s disgusting and unsanitary. Only the lowest kind of people resort to such an act. Personally I prefer to get punched in the face rather than being spat on.

I’m not saying he did though, people who were close by need to confirm either way.

  4. If Theo Hernandez himself hasn’t come forward and said he was spat on, we can’t get too worked up about the possibility of it.

Unless Theo condones being spitting on people and accepts he can just as easily be victim to it, then his not even saying himself that it happened suggests it didn’t.

UNLESS – he had spoken to the referee and kept everything formal. Thus, we can only wait for the ref’s match report.

  5. Typical Shinter player and I bet he gets nothing in terms of a lengthy ban as well fine if he did do that. In the error of covid spitting is even more despicable and cowardly. Do not get me wrong even though he is a Shinteristi, he is a top player but as a human being that is repulsive.

  6. Either way lautaro deserved red for uneccessary confront player who was already in tunnel
