Di Francesco told Gazzetta dello Sport about some of his tactical concepts and the talented Berardi.

“Guardiola is my idol, I stole off him the idea of having two players always supporting the man on the ball,” he said.

Di Francesco told Gazzetta dello Sport about some of his tactical concepts and the talented Berardi.

“Guardiola is my idol, I stole off him the idea of having two players always supporting the man on the ball,” he said.

“A big job? Everything is relative. Berlusconi spoke to me at San Siro and was complimentary, but didn’t offer me the Milan job.

“I heard nothing from Roma, I only have Sassuolo on my mind.

“The ball, organisation and movement are the focal points. We need to know how to attack and defend as a team, my 4-3-3 becomes a 4-5-1 when we don’t have the ball.

“We attack with width, defences open up to make the cuts inside effective. The concepts of Sacchi are always valid.

“Berardi is reserved and introverted but is part of the group in the dressing room, he suffers from sudden changes and must develop his communication.

“He’s our Arjen Robben, he turned down Juventus to complete his journey here.”
