Sampdoria coach Roberto D’Aversa feels sorry for Manolo Gabbiadini, who left the Marassi in tears after a nasty ankle injury against Milan. ‘We will evaluate tomorrow’.

The Blucerchiati might have to dive into the transfer market in the last week of the window, as Gabbiadini, who played a good match against the Rossoneri, left the pitch with an injury on Monday.

The striker suffered a bad ankle injury and hopped off the pitch, before he ended the night in tears, fearing the worst.

“I’m sorry for Manolo,” D’Aversa told DAZN after the game. “We will evaluate tomorrow.

“Let’s hope it’s nothing serious because he’s an important player. For the transfer market, you have to ask the club.”

The player’s reaction and the first sensations are interpreted as a bad injury for the former Southampton striker, something that might change the strategy on the market for Samp.

But D’Aversa was happy with the team’s performance in the 1-0 defeat to Milan at the Marassi.

“The team had an excellent match,” he said. “Against a great team like Milan. We created a lot, but we didn’t convert. One incident punished us, but the performance was there.

“When I join a team that scored 52 points the previous year, it’s normal to want to do better if I have the same squad.

“The objectives, however, are set by the club on the basis of many situations.”
