Alessandro Costacurta looked ahead to the blockbuster Serie A clash between Milan and Napoli, highlighting the strengths of individuals like Kvara Kvaratskhelia and Davide Calabria.
The two sides face off tonight at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in one of the most important games in this Serie A season. Both sides sit at the top of the Serie A table and have looked strong this campaign, making a win this evening worth more than just three points. Last season, Napoli won at San Siro but lost in the Campania capital, something neither side will want to repeat.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Costacurta first discussed his excitement for the match between Milan and Napoli, underlining the importance of the game.
“It’s the match we all want to see, the best in Serie A, the bravest. Napoli are beautiful and powerful, from what we have seen so far, I think they are the most convincing in the Champions League together with City.
“Milan without Leao we don’t really know anymore, it’ll be interesting to see how Pioli will readjust his side, and what weight De Ketelaere can have up front. After tonight we’ll be able to understand if Milan can win the Scudetto again.”
He then commented on the duel between Kvaratskhelia and Calabria, a key element of the clash.
“I’m curious to see him against Calabria, who I think is a world-class defender. In a one-on-one Davide is among the best in the world.”
Finally, Costacurta also drew attention to a number of other individuals in the game, including new Rossoneri man Charles De Ketelaere.
“Kvara on one side and Theo on the other are potentially devastating. But also keep an eye on Raspadori and De Ketelaere.
“His arrival was less explosive than Kvaratskhelia’s, but at Milan there are many examples of talent that have blossomed over time, from Leao to Tonali, we need to give them time.
“De Ketelaere can handle the pressure of San Siro, and this is already a great start, who knows, maybe tonight.”
