According to reports in Italy, Antonio Conte is in a hurry to sign Dejan Kulusevski on a permanent deal from Juventus and Spurs could activate their clause before 2023.

The Swede has had a terrific impact in North London since his loan move from Turin in January.

The 21-year-old has scored three goals and delivered six assists in 13 games with Antonio Conte in charge, becoming one of the most important players in the team.

Kulusevski joined Tottenham on an initial 18-month loan in January worth €10m. The Premier League side can make his move permanent for a further €35m in 2023.

As specified by Juventus in January, Tottenham have the ‘obligation to definitely acquire the player’s registrations rights, subject to the achievement of certain sporting objectives by the end of the season 2022/2023’ and ‘the right for Tottenham to definitively acquire the player’s registration rights in case such objectives are not achieved.’

According to Calciomercato.com, Conte is pushing to sign the player permanently before 2023 and Spurs could meet the desire of their coach. SportMediaset claims Spurs have an obligation to sign the player permanently if they manage a top-four finish this season, but the obligation to buy is only valid for 2022-23. Spurs are already considering signing the 21-year-old on a permanent deal regardless of that.

  1. Different league, different style of play, but one thing is the same. Conte puts players in their best positions. Allegri is laboratory meddler, who tries to put square pegs in round holes.

  2. Allegri: two time CL finalist
Conte: never made it past the quarters, lost in group stage to galatasaray and went to europa league, said the team wasnt good enough and then allegri took the same team to the final

  3. Better league, better players, higher tempo, more physical and a better coach. PhD Max is ruining Chiesa before the injury, transforming Locatelli into a useless defensive midfielder and even Vlahovic is seeing a decrease in numbers. Give the him Manchester City and Mahrez would be learning how to defend.

  4. Allegri cannot be compared to Conte, Never! Conte laid the foundation of juventus, allegri only reap the fruit of Conte labour, Allegri continue the Juve dominance because serie-A had no real team to compete… Was it inzaghi’s milan, or gattusso Milan, sarri’s Napoli or pioli’s intermilan or spalletti inter or Garcia’s or spalletti Roma that can compete! Never, Juve was simply the best of the worst league in Europe… therefore, Allegri’s achievement was nothing and pale in comparison with other coaches when they won at the same time. I will yet say again, if he wins the league once more, it’s still not an achievement because this is nothing but a dead football league.

  5. @G Yes, Allegri has the superior record in the CL, but that’s a different argument.

The points being made here are the style of football, the development of younger players, fielding players in their best positions and not asking them to do things which are counter intuitive to their skills and favored positions. And Allegri’s aversion towards young footballers, dogmatically putting them all in the same basket, irrespective of their character and quality.

I struggle to think of any player, or any youngster who has improved under Allegri. All I see is stagnation, regression, inhibition and anxiety. Chiesa was a much better player under Pirlo, as was Locatelli under De Zerbi.

Going back to your argument, Allegri did very well to get to those finals, but my God he was found out, big time, on both occasions.

  6. G, I m not questioning Allegri’s 2 CL’s. He had the talent to get there. All I’m saying is, and Bruno made the same points… Allegri tinkers… he’s always moving people around, they rarely are put in to their best positions. He doesn’t play young players and let them grow into their own. Did Kulu drink some magic potion on the flight to England, or did Conte give him his natural position and confidence? The best coaches adjust their systems to the players they have. Not the other way around.

  7. Conte practically saved this kid from allegri. De Ligt, Chiesa, Locatelli and Vlahovic should follow Kulu and go somewhere else. As long as they are under allegri, they will never flourish.
