Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly says he is ready to return to Naples if the Partenopei win the Serie A title this season.

The Senegal captain joined the Blues in a €30m deal last summer, ending an eight-year spell at the Stadio Maradona.

He made his World Cup debut on Monday, but his side Senegal lost 2-0 to the Netherlands.

“We played a good game, only a goal was missing,” he told Sportitalia.

“We know this is the World Cup, a competition decided by details. If you concede, it’s hard to recover. Now we must focus on the next game, we know we have two finals ahead.”

The 30-year-old is enjoying Napoli‘s unbeaten run from afar. The Partenopei have won 13 games out of 15 in Serie A, drawing the other two and have an eight-point lead over second-placed Milan at the top of the table.

“If Napoli win, I’ll go back there to celebrate,” said the experienced defender.

Koulibaly had already expressed his affection for the Azzurri in his latest interview with Il Corriere Della Sera last month.

He admitted that he had rejected an offer from Juventus not to betray Napoli fans, saying that he hopes his former teammates are crowned Italian champions this term.

Koulibaly has played 14 games with Chelsea this season, scoring one goal.
