Kalidou Koulibaly admits he talks about Napoli‘s victories in Chelsea’s dressing room: ‘If they win the title, it will be mine too.’

The Senegal international joined the Blues last summer after eight years at the Stadio Maradona.

“My cycle was over I had given it all, but I feel every goal and every victory. This is also my Napoli, I am happy to have contributed to the team’s growth,” the 30-year-old told Il Corriere Della Sera.

“I talk about Napoli’s victories with my Chelsea teammates. I am proud of them, I often talk to Anguissa and Osimhen and I text Kvara even if I don’t know him yet.”

The Partenopei are the Serie A leaders with a five-point lead over second-placed Atalanta. They are the only unbeaten team in Italy and tonight they face Liverpool away in the final match of the Champions League Group A.

Koulibaly came close to winning the title at Napoli when the Partenopei, coached by Maurizio Sarri collected 91 points in 2017-18.

“It was a different football, we were playing incredible football, dominating every game,” the defender admitted.

Will Napoli win the title this season?

“I hope so, but let’s not say it for superstition. If they win it, it will be my title too.”

Where have Spalletti’s men improved?

“I don’t think they have improved; they’ve always been strong. Now they are free, they don’t hide behind important players. I have no regrets, they no longer needed me.

“Serie A is balanced, nobody expected Juventus to be so behind. I faced Milan in the Champions League, and they are a strong team.”

Is it true that he didn’t join Juventus in the summer not to betray his former fans?

“You are saying it,” he said, smiling.

“That was a jersey I could not wear out of faith and respect.

What has the future in store for him?

“Who knows, perhaps I could become a Napoli director,” he admitted. Even with President Aurelio De Laurentiis in charge?

“I’ve always been polite. If I am at Chelsea, it’s also because of him who brought me to Napoli.”
