Reports in Italy claim Fiorentina winger Nico Gonzalez could hire a mental coach to overcome the disappointment of not being at the World Cup with Argentina.

The South Americans were shocked by Saudi Arabia in their debut at Qatar 2022, losing 2-1 in their opening match in the competition.

Nico thought he’d be part of the team and had initially made it into Lionel Scaloni’s 26-man squad. However, he was replaced by Atletico Madrid’s Angel Correa last week following a bicep issue.

The 24-year-old had been struggling with injuries and made just 10 competitive appearances at a club level before the World Cup, collecting 390 minutes with La Viola.

Now, according to La Nazione, he is considering hiring a mental coach to get over the disappointment of not being in Qatar with his compatriots.

The Argentinean winger has returned to Florence and the club will consider whether to give him a few extra days of holiday in December.
