Bologna‘s assistant coach Emilio De Leo refused to reply to José Mourinho, who had claimed: ‘The team that didn’t want to win did what they intended and the referee let them do it.’
The Giallorossi collected a 0-0 draw against the Rossoblu yesterday, seeing Juventus move ten points clear and securing a top-four finish with three games to spare.
Mourinho was furious after the match and blamed pretty much everyone, including Bologna players.
“The game did not have much quality. The team that wanted to win didn’t do enough, the team that didn’t want to win did what they intended, the referee let them do it. The result is a game without quality,” he told DAZN.
Sinisa Mihajlovic’s assistant Emilio De Leo turned out in front of cameras after the Portuguese tactician but refused to reply.
“I don’t want to comment, I only want to say that we put in an important performance, that’s the only thing I want to highlight,” he told DAZN.
“The midfielders played well, but it’s not easy to press all the time. Strikers should be more clinical, but considering the energies they spent, it’s hard to stay lucid in front of the goal.
“This group has important values and the coach [Mihajlovic] is always close to us. These guys have personality, we are doing a good job and I think this is the best way to respect the coach.”
Mihajlovic announced a new cycle of chemotherapy in March and Bologna are unbeaten in the last six games. Their record is even more impressive considering that they met Milan, Inter, Juventus and Roma in the process.
Bologna players surprised their coach after a 2-1 win over Inter last week, by paying a visit outside the Sant’Orsola hospital in Bologna.
