Alexander Blessin thanks Genoa fans and insists he is ‘thinking positive’ after a fourth consecutive Serie A draw, this time against Venezia.

This was a fourth consecutive draw under Blessin, who is the third different Genoa coach of the current campaign.

It’s an unbeaten run, but also moving far too slowly to get out of the relegation zone at this rate.

Caleb Ekuban scored his first Serie A goal to cancel out the Thomas Henry header from a corner, sealing the 1-1 scoreline at the Stadio Penzo.

After the final whistle, the coach went to the away end and saluted the fans.

“I like how they support us every minute of the game. When you see these chances, with a little bit more luck we could win this game,” Blessin told DAZN.

“The fans support and give us everything, we didn’t get the final result and win this game, but I like it gives me goosebumps. It’s an amazing feeling, so it is my job to say thank you.”

Blessin had said when he first arrived that in his view a draw was no better than a defeat, so how does he feel after four stalemates on the trot?

“We started really not good and had big, big problems on the second balls, losing many fights, started with a diamond in the midfield and changed it the old system, which worked better.

“I think the mentality in the last 20 minutes was really great, we created many, many chances. I was thinking at this moment the ball was clear, but what must we do to win this game? I think my team once more deserved victory, but in this case we have to accept it.

“This is the fourth draw in a row, but we have to keep on working.”

Genoa are still in penultimate place and even Salernitana are improving, so should the Grifone fans start preparing for relegation and next season in Serie B?

“I always think positive, you can see the smaller teams can beat the bigger ones, we saw already this weekend Milan and Juventus were surprised.

“We have Inter next, a really strong team, but we can’t we go into this game and think perhaps we win? We try to find ways to win the game and hope for a little more luck.

“Until it is mathematically impossible, we will continue to believe.”
