There are rising concerns at Inter due to their poor results in big games this term, with the Nerazzurri being the most beaten defence in away games in Serie A with 16 goals conceded.

Simone Inzaghi’s men lost 2-0 against Juventus in Turin on Sunday, seeing the Old Lady leapfrog them in the table, while leaders Napoli are now 11 points clear of the Nerazzurri.

The Nerazzurri have lost all their big games in Serie A so far, against Lazio, Milan, Juventus and Roma. Three of these four defeats came in away games, including the derby, which, on paper, was a home fixture for the Rossoneri.

They also lost 3-1 against Udinese on September 18 when, at that time, the Bianconeri were in the top four.

The only exception was in Champions League, where they collected one win and one draw against Barcelona, while Bayern Munich beat them twice.

The Nerazzurri sealed a 1-0 win over the Catalans at San Siro and managed a 3-3 draw in Catalunya where, despite the positive result, they confirmed their poor defensive record away.

No Serie A team has conceded more goals than Inter in away games this term: in fact, the Nerazzurri have conceded 16 of their 19 goals away from home.

Both Inzaghi and Beppe Marotta did not hide their concerns after Sunday’s loss to Juventus.

“Clearly, we played the most difficult games away, but we must improve,” Inzaghi said at a post-match press conference.

“We must improve in big games, we must do more to gain better results, but the performance was there tonight.”

Marotta has added today that Inter ‘must reflect’ given that “we’ve conceded 16 goals from 19 away, losing four times. We must analyse the path and make sure we change the team’s double-face.”

  1. well you can thank the refereeing for not reviewing the Dumfries handball in that match otherwise even that win would not have happened
