Mario Balotelli is reportedly set to join Swiss side Sion on a permanent deal from Adana Demirspor.

Sky Sport Italia claims ‘Super Mario’ will undergo his medical and sign his contract with Sion today.

AEK Athens had also made an offer to sign the ex-Milan, Brescia and Inter striker, but Balo eventually picked Sion.

The 32-year-old scored 19 goals in 35 appearances in Turkey, coached by Vincenzo Montella.

The Italians almost came to blows on the pitch last weekend following a 1-0 win over Umraniye (VIDEO).

Montella said in his post-match press conference that the club ‘expected more’ from the former Liverpool and Manchester City man.

Balotelli is not the first Italian joining Sion. Milan legend Gennaro Gattuso also played for the club in 2012, signing a two-year deal and ending his career in Switzerland.

Balotelli has scored 52 goals in 141 Serie A appearances with Inter, Milan and Brescia. His last spell in Italy was in Serie B with Monza when he scored six goals in 14 appearances in 2020-21, before his move to Adana Demirspor.
