Antonio Conte says Italy national team will benefit from Gianluca Scamacca’s move to West Ham and discusses his rapport with Emerson Palmieri and Angelo Ogbonna.

The Italian tactician will meet his compatriots Scamacca, Emerson Palmieri and Angelo Ogbonna in tonight’s Premier League clash between Tottenham and Newcastle.

“Scamacca is an excellent player, still very young. It’s important for the national team that he plays in the Premier League,” Conte told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“You’ve seen with Jorginho how players can improve by playing in this league, one of the best in terms of intensity and pace.

“I know Emerson very well, I brought him to Chelsea, and there is a special rapport with Angelo, we are very much connected and I brought him to the national team.

“They all play for an excellent team who signed important players, hoping to become even stronger. David Moyes is among the best and most experienced coaches in England, it’s always tough to face them.”

Conte’s Tottenham have collected ten points in the opening four Premier League games this season and are still unbeaten in league games.

Scamacca joined the Hammers from Sassuolo this summer and has scored two goals in six appearances across all competitions this season.

He has yet to find the net in Premier League games, where he has collected four appearances and only one as a starter.

Ogbonna has 13 senior caps to his name with Italy national team, making his debut in 2011 under Cesare Prandelli. Conte coached him at Juventus and for three games while in charge of the Azzurri.

Emerson played seven matches under the Italian tactician at Chelsea.

“We are working to improve in many aspects and I am convinced we can still improve a lot,” continued Conte.

“Sometimes we must improve in terms of personality, be aggressive and understand the level of the game.

“Honestly, I am seeing a lot of progress, we are proving to be mentally strong, even if still not enough for me. We must continue to work and bring in games the things we try during training.

“Our first target is to improve what we did last season, it’s not easy to reduce the gap with those ahead, but we are working to do it.”
