Juventus fell to a 2-0 loss against Real Madrid in the final match of their US tour.

A Karim Benzema penalty and a second by Marco Asensio saw the Bianconeri comprehensively beaten the European champions.

The two sides met in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena – scene of the 1994 World Cup final where then Juve forward Roberto Baggio missed a penalty to condemn Italy to defeat against Brazil.

Injuries to goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny and midfielder Weston McKennie ruled them out as Juve started with Mattia Perin in goal while Danio, Leonardo Bonucci, Gleison Bremer and Alex Sandro made up the back four. In midfield it was Denis Zakaria, Manuel Locatelli and Nicolò Fagioli with the attacking trip of Ángel Di Maria, Dušan Vlahović and Moise Kean.

Madrid, meanwhile, went with Thibaut Courtois in goal, Dani Carvajal, Éder Militão, David Alaba and Ferland Mendy across the back. Luka Modrić, Casemiro and Toni Kroos made up the midfield with Federico Valverde, Karim Benzema and Vinícius Júnior in attack – the same starting XI which beat Liverpool in the Champions League final two months ago.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side had the ball in the back of the net early on but Valverde’s effort was ruled offside.

Bonucci then came close to giving Juve the lead on 12 minutes as he hit the bar with a free-kick – the Bianconeri’s best effort of the match – before Madrid did open the scoring seven minutes later from the spot.

Danilo, having initial miscontrolled a pass from Vlahović, brought down Vinícius Jnr. and Benzema converted from 12 yards.

At half-time, Di Maria was replaced by Juan Cuadrado while former Roma defender Antonio Rüdiger came on for Militão .

Di Maria’s absence made Juve even less dangerous as Madrid continued to dominate the match with Perin keeping the Bianconeri in it with saves from Carvajal, Mendy and Benzema.

Ancelotti then made three changes but Los Blancos’ dominance continues and it was 2-0 on 69 minutes as Asensio tapped in from close range after some neat team build-up play.

Next up for Juve is a clash against Atlético Madrid in Tel Aviv, Israel on Aug. 7.

  1. @Dx
He has already ruined Juve, but not only with his tactics. but also by keeping of Sandro , Bonnuci and Danilo in that defence line. such a joke of defence line. Paredes and Werner will also help Juve get better a little bit.
The interesting fact in this game was that as soon as Di Maria came out Juve became toothless af . Thank god they bought him at least. Wish Pogba a speedy comeback too.

  2. I fear Juve might not make the top 4 come end of the season! With a toothless attack and a lethargic and slow football style, the bianconeri will be left behind seeing as the pace of the modern game now is non-negotiable across all the top team but allegri seem to be retrogressing! Milan game last season was particularly eye catching with their pacey and youthful zest and this I believe won the the league…Juve should try and learn something from the evolution of the game…not the usual slow slow slow motion game allegri dishes…. I watched a clip of platini Juve, even the pace and creativity looks much more modern than allegri despite being 40 years ago! Allegri got me sick honestly

  3. Vlahovic’s first touch is a nightmare. Juve moved the ball too slow and pressing system was ridiculous. They should stop playing prehistoric style like this

  4. Lord allegri need to punch your head with baseball bat, because nor cafu nor roberto carlos never played at juve, your head is like potato, you are not funny mate, need to punch your head in the wall 🙂
