Nicolo Zaniolo has made it clear that he wants a significant wage bump as Roma prepare to start contract renewal talks, reports suggest.

The 23-year-old Italian forward was one of the most discussed players in Serie A this summer, constantly being linked with a move to Juventus, but he ultimately remained in Rome as the transfer window drew to a close. With Zaniolo’s current contract expiring in 2024, Roma are ready to start discussing a new deal.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Messaggero, talks between Zaniolo’s entourage and Roma’s management are likely to kick off during the next international break. The Giallorossi want to tie him down to a new contract that’ll keep him at the club until 2027 and they’re willing to offer a salary of around €3.5m net per season plus add-ons.

Zaniolo’s entourage are seemingly pushing for more, wanting wages that reflect his status as a key player in the squad.

The two parties will meet later this month, when the international break will take place, where they’ll try to close the distance between offer and request.
